Appfluent Technology Appoints Peter Gyenes to its Board of Directors
Former CEO of Ascential Software brings operational experience
and strategic vision

Rockville, MD, September 7, 2005 - Appfluent Technology, Inc., a leader in query performance and data usage software, today announced the appointment of Peter Gyenes, the former chairman and CEO of Ascential Software, to Appfluent’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Gyenes has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ascential Software Corporation (NASDAQ: ASCL), until its acquisition by IBM in April 2005. Mr. Gyenes was formerly Chief Executive Officer of Informix Corporation and led the sale of its database business to IBM and the subsequent transition from Informix to Ascential. Prior to Informix’s acquisition of Ardent Software, Inc., he was chairman, president and Chief Executive Officer of Ardent, which he joined in 1996. Before joining Ardent, he was the president and Chief Executive Officer of Racal Interlan, Inc. Previously, Mr. Gyenes served in executive sales, marketing, and general management positions at Data General Corporation, Encore Computer Corporation and Prime Computer, Inc. He serves on the boards of Applix, Inc., ViryaNet, Inc., a number of privately held technology companies, and the Massachusetts Software Council. Mr. Gyenes received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University.
